The Underdogs: Education Lab

As part of The Underdogs closing program, a temporary showcase of artworks made by residents of Hauser & Wirth’s Education Lab —an art residency held before the opening of the show— will be featured in the exhibition’s final event.
The Education Lab’s encouraged the growth of local artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines in an early stage of their careers by providing an opportunity to foster collaboration and the exchange of ideas alongside Mark Bradford, an international artist who has witnessed first-hand how access to educational and social resources can affect the communities. During the program, spaces for collaboration and learning were set up through portfolio reviews, mentoring, and conversations that delved into key topics of art and life. Throughout the exhibition, resident artists actively participated in workshops and guided tours, sharing the experiences, conversations, processes, and affections that layer upon layer were built into the site-specific mural Man of Fire (2023).
