EstaciónMAZ

MAZ Museum presents the first solo exhibition of Tino Sehgal in Mexico.

Sehgal’s international recognition stems from a radical practice that shifts artistic production away from the creation of objects toward human interaction. He constructs situations that employ voice, bodily movement, behavior, and language, engaging visitors as active participants in the work.

Starting November 29th, variations around Sehgal’s seminal work Kiss will be presented at Estacion MAZ. Kiss is an intimate choreography between two dancers who move slowly through a sequence of poses that evoke embracing couples from art history. The piece evokes iconic postures from Western art, such as those of Rodin, Brancusi, or Klimt.

Starting January 29th, 2026, a presentation conceived for Andador 20 de Noviembre, the pedestrian walkway connecting MAZ and EstaciónMAZ will be shown. Based on a practice Sehgal started in 2012 of a large group roaming through public spaces in everchanging scenes, these interactions unfold with unexpected immediacy and honesty, inviting the public into a shared moment of connection. Earlier versions of these presentations have been shown in both larger exhibition spaces (such as Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall in London or the Palais de Tokyo in Paris) as well as in public spaces (like public plazas or parks). In Guadalajara, the group will be moving between MAZ and EstaciónMAZ throughout the day in a series of scenes adapted for or specifically made for the walkway.
