Work Will Set You Free | Emanuel Tovar

From March 17 to May 29, 2011

Taken from the entrance gate of the Auschwitz concentration camp—the largest extermination center in the history of Nazism—“Work Will Set You Free” is one of the most sinister motivational phrases ever used to greet groups of prisoners. It serves as the driving concept for this installation: a passageway-tunnel that visitors are invited to walk through, serving as a metaphor for the uncertain paths traversed by individuals and societies today.
