Sala Abierta is an intangible space that is part of the MAZ galleries.

  1. Los Angeles has transformed into Erebus, an imaginary realm situated between the world of the living and the dead, devoted to an enigmatic cult worshiping the goddess Aphrodite-Bunny. Demetrio, a trendy sculptor, idle and narcissistic, is desired by the most beautiful women in the city: Reina, Baquis, and Athena. However, his heart remains as cold as marble.

One day, he crosses paths with Khrysis and falls in love with her. She demands three tokens of his love: he commits three thefts for her, believing his dream will come true. He then asks Khrysis to pose as his model with the three stolen objects, unknowingly sentencing her to death—eternal life engraved in stone. As Khrysis is thus canonized, all the other characters undergo a transformation, crossing the threshold into the Underworld. The profaned statue of Aphrodite-Bunny becomes Persephone-Bunny, initiated by the Furies and the Night into the Realm of the Dead.

Érèbe is a free adaptation of Pierre Louÿs’ novel Aphrodite: Ancient Manners.
