Vórtice investiga los mecanismos de producción del libro de texto gratuito de la Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP). Desde 2004 los libros están hechos en una alta proporción con papel reciclado de todas las dependencias gubernamentales. La carga política y simbólica de los libros no está únicamente en sus contenidos, también aparece en su material como contenedor: llevan el código genético de su origen burocrático. En una analogía del orden industrial con que el saber se procesa dentro de la maquinaria del Estado, Armas transformó los libros en partes mecánicas que transmiten movimiento, en engranes de un mecanismo conceptual.

Vortex investigates the production mechanisms of the free textbooks produced by the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP). Since 2004, the textbooks are made in a high proportion with recycled paper from all government agencies. The political and symbolic dimension of these books is not only in its contents. It appears as well in their material as container: they carry the genetic code from their bureaucratic origin. In an analogy of the industrial order with which knowledge is processed within the State machinery, Armas transformed the books in mechanical parts that transmit motion, in gears of a conceptual mechanism.
